The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) issues Ethiopia's first law firm license to Habesha Legal Advocates (HLA).

Habesha Legal Advocates LP stands as a trailblazer in the Ethiopian legal industry, becoming the first law firm to receive an official license (License No. 0001/2014) from the Ministry of Justice. The firm was established by a team of highly experienced legal practitioners, with its founding vision originally driven by an experienced practitioner who brought an international perspective from a secondment at Latham & Watkins LLP via the International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA) program.

Under the current legal framework, licensed law firms are empowered to provide full-scope advocacy services, including legal consultation, conducting civil and commercial negotiations, drafting and filing legal documents, and representing clients before courts of law.
